Unfortunately, there are very few lenders that will accept a gift from a non-blood relative.
Most lenders will only accept gifted deposits from immediate family which are noted as grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles or siblings. Some lenders will extend this to stepparents or foster parents.
The only specialist lenders that will accept gifts from non-blood relatives would require a minimum 25% deposit and their interest rates are much higher than most.
Government backed schemes
If you are struggling to raise the deposit required to get on the housing ladder or move, then schemes such as Help to Buy, or Shared Ownership could be the answer for you.
